Supreme Court On Article 370: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Article 370 matter after the Dussehra holiday. Chief Justice NV Raman said this while assuring a lawyer seeking an early hearing. Earlier in April, the Chief Justice had said about the hearing, ‘Let me see’. A bench of five judges will have to be constituted in this matter.
This matter is pending since 2019. In this case, the Supreme Court has been requested several times for an early hearing. A 5-judge bench is to be heard on the petitions filed against the abolition of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Now the Supreme Court is ready to hear the matter.
what is the whole matter
In fact, on August 5 last year, Parliament passed a resolution to abolish the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. Along with this, it was decided to divide the state into two union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. This was also approved by the President.
After this, different petitions were filed in the Supreme Court to challenge this matter several times. The Supreme Court had started hearing the case in December, but as soon as the hearing started, some parties had demanded to send the matter to a larger bench. The hearing on the continuing case is now expected to be held soon.
